Fàilte (welcome) to Wayfarer’s Rest – a place to be for all who wander about Scotland’s Highlands. We invite you to our whimsical above-country shop self-catering accommodation that has been recently renovated to a high standard that provides a clean and bright space with cosy pitched ceiling bed rooms for 5 guests.
We are located in the wee village of Laggan in the hauntingly beautiful Highlands of Scotland, surrounded by invigorating walks and stunning scenes. Rural and remote as we seem, we are easily reached from the A9 and are centrally located in the heart of Scotland (north of Perth and south of Inverness) and within 10 miles of Newtonmore and Kingussie train stations. We are also ideally situated along the Corrieyairack Pass and the East Highland Way for walkers and cyclists.
All are welcome. Let us know if you require a travel cot (for babies) or an additional folding bed (sorry no pets or smoking).

THINGS TO KNOW . . .
Once Laggan Stores Coffee Bothy is operational, basic provisions of milk, cheese, bread, drinks, soups, sandwiches, rolls, cinnamon buns, home-made ice cream, wood, local papers, etc. can be purchased. But for more substantial purchases of food, toiletries, alcohol, etc., Newtonmore (9-ish miles) has a Co-operative and several eateries/take-a-ways. Kingussie (2 miles beyond Newtonmore) provides further shops such as Murchies, Co-op, a butchers, tea rooms and the ever popular Happy Haggis for excellent fish suppers! Tesco can be had in Aviemore (27 mi. from Laggan), which also boasts a good variety of restaurants and local cinema. There is always Lidl and Morrisions in Fort William (38 mi) to the South-West and the works found in Inverness (56 mi) to the North-East. Essentially, with some preparation and forethought you won’t find your self caught out as you can work a shop into your plans when you are out and about enjoying the highlands.
(FYI: some of the major grocers do deliver to Laggan, but it is best to check with those of your preference first. If you do get food delivered please arrange with us for its reception, but we can’t be responsible for checking its condition upon arrival and will accept it as is. But we encourage all to shop as locally as much as possible.)
Closer to home, the Pottery Coffee Shop & Gifts (less than 1 mile away) has a delightful café and gift shop. Then there is the Gaskmore Country Hotel which is available for booked meals and has an open pub/bar till November each year.
If you have any further inquires or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to help your stay be a blessed one.
